What does it train you for?
The Master’s Degree Programme in Building and Architectural Engineering – LM-4 (single-cycle) integrates engineering and architectural knowledge within a unified path aimed at training professionals capable of managing the complexity of design and construction processes in the built environment.
The educational framework is strongly multidisciplinary: it combines architectural design activities with scientific, structural, energy, environmental, management and digital disciplines.
Design studios and integrated courses play a central role, guiding students through the development of multi-scale solutions, supported by advanced digital tools and promoting a progressive ability to synthesise theory and practice.
This degree opens up multiple career opportunities: freelance work, public and private institutions, architectural and engineering firms, construction companies, service providers, national and international organisations involved in the sustainable design, construction, management, and transformation of buildings and urban areas.
More than half of the courses are delivered in English, starting from the first year and with the final two years taught entirely in English.
What do you learn?
The programme provides solid scientific and technical knowledge to address architectural and engineering challenges in an integrated way, with particular attention to environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and responsible resource use.
Starting from a robust foundation in science and culture, students learn how to design, analyse, and manage buildings and urban spaces according to principles of functionality, energy efficiency, safety, environmental quality, and durability.
Skills are developed in structural engineering, building services systems, materials, and environmental design, using advanced tools such as BIM, GIS, structural and energy simulation, and custom calculation codes.
Teaching activities include theoretical courses, design studios, applied exercises, and interdisciplinary workshops.
A significant part of the learning takes place through hands-on experience and the development of complex projects that simulate real-world conditions and foster collaboration with different professional roles.
The programme promotes critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex projects—even in international contexts.
What can you do with it?
Graduates may work as freelance professionals in both engineering and architecture, after passing the national licensing exam.
Specifically, they can register in the Professional Register of Engineers – Section A, Civil and Environmental sector – and in the Register of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators – Section A, Architecture sector – with the title of Ingegnere Edile–Architetto, as recognised by Directive 2005/36/EC.
They may also work in public institutions, local authorities, design firms, construction companies, real estate management agencies, certification bodies, research institutes, and companies operating in the building and urban sectors.
The training received enables them to take on design and technical-management roles in multidisciplinary environments, also at the international level.
